A short story:
Ted works a 9-5. He’s not fiercely passionate about it but he’s not unhappy either. He likes the work, likes his co-workers, and it pays the bills. He would love to get a promotion, make more money. To get there, he figures he needs to work hard, and do all he can to impress his bosses. He’ll also keep a lookout for job opportunities that could offer a move up.
This is probably how 99% of people think.
Life situations may be completely different, but the approach to life is very similar.
Practical/incremental goals and practical/incremental plans to achieve them.
Let’s continue the story:
But he also wonders if there’s more. More money, yes. But also more passion. Something that really fires him up and also leads to a lot of growth. A “bigger” life. The thought of living such a life excites him. But he’s not sure where to begin or how to make it happen.
Ted doesn’t realize it but he just opened up a new portal. Just by wondering. A portal that can shift him into a new reality with higher potential. This is the first step. But he’s not the only one doing this either.
A lot of people wonder and dream.
He starts to think about what this new life could be. Nothing obvious jumps out. He starts researching a few different careers, possible business ideas and side hustles. After spending a few weeks doing this, he’s still feeling unsure of what to do and where to begin. This may be a lot harder than he thought.
He’s taken another step. He’s trying to enter the portal.
He’s trying to figure out practical next steps towards a higher reality. To ground it into his present. But the struggle to do so is real.
He finally takes a step back. He asks himself what he really wants. What does he really value? What does he enjoy? What does he want his life to be like? He wants more money to be able to buy nice things - his dream house, car, etc. But he also wants money for freedom - not necessarily to retire, but to have the freedom to do what he wants, when he wants. He would love to run his own business where he calls the shots, service clients and runs things his way.
This brings a huge smile to his face and makes him feel really good. He’s not sure how, he’s not sure when, but in that moment, he decides this is what he really wants.
Ted has now entered the portal. By getting clearer on what he wants, and making a decision. Like gravity, the portal will now pull him towards this new reality.
Ideas, resources, teachers, insights will now start showing up in his reality to guide him through the portal. It could be a video, a book, a course, a blog post, a tweet, a conversation with a friend. He has to continue to believe, pursue motivation and lessons as they strike. As he does, changes may start to appear in his reality (big or small, positive or negative, in his control or not) to further align him with this new path. There may also be tests of his faith and commitment along the way.
It may not happen overnight (as with most “overnight successes”). It may take time.
But the portal will carry him through to his destination.
You can have practical dreams and goals. You can take practical/incremental steps towards those goals.
But you can also have a much bigger destiny (if you’re reading this, this is your confirmation). Before you make any plans, or jump right in, a bigger destiny requires you to set the table. You need to prime it.
You need to open a portal. You need to wonder. You need to dream. You need to imagine.
To enter the portal, you need to get clarity. You need to figure out what you want and why. What really (like truly) matters to you? And then you need to decide. Commit. Like Ted, the portal will then magically start pulling you in.
This is quantum magic. It’s a term I totally made up but the theory is sound. Ours is a quantum reality where any given moment holds potential/probabilities for infinite timelines and realities. Just requires a magician (you) to choose.
